AVANGAR have qualified for the ECS Season 8 LAN finals in Arlington, Texas, following a quarter-final victory over m1x in week two.
AVANGAR entered the second week of play as the front runners for the first LAN qualification spot, having defeated Virtus.pro, fnatic, and FORZE on their path to a first place finish and the lion's share of the prize pool in week one.
AVANGAR, Virtus.pro, and HEROIC were the only teams who participated in the first week of ECS Season 8 Europe who returned for week two, with the CIS side being the sole team of the trio to have placed in the money. As a result, they required just one series victory to ensure their qualification to the LAN.
Despite topping the first week and entering the second as one of the highest seeded teams, AVANGAR didn't have an easy time of things as m1x managed to steal away the opening map of Mirage in overtime with a 19-16 victory thanks to a heroic performance by Rigon "rigoN" Gashi. The CIS side were quick to bounce back however, mustering ten rounds on the offensive side of Dust2 before eventually securing a 16-12 victory and evening the series score.
m1x kept things competitive as the two teams battled back-and-forth on the deciding map of Inferno, with AVANGAR edging out an 8-7 lead at the half; however, following the side swap, Dzhami "Jame" Ali and company proved their prowess as they kept m1x at bay for the majority of the map, only conceding four rounds before closing out the map with another 16-12 scoreline to take home the series.
