EnVyUs are the Gfinity Summer Masters I champions after seeing off Ninjas in Pyjamas 3-0 (16-10 on de_dust2, 16-4 on de_inferno and 16-9 on de_cache).
After three action-packed days, the Gfinity Summer Masters title was to be contested by EnVyUs and Ninjas in Pyjamas, two teams who were desperate to return to winning ways after enduring a slump in form in recent weeks.
de_dust2 began with EnVyUs taking bragging rights first by picking up the opening four rounds of the game. NiP then responded in the fifth round, but they were unable to build on that success, which allowed the Frenchmen to quickly get back into the game.
After finding themselves down 1-6, the Swedes were able to finally string two rounds together, but a triple kill from Vincent "Happy" Schopenhauer in long shattered their economy. NiP still managed to recover in the dying stages of the half to bring the scoreline to 6-9.
NiP began the second half on a winning note by winning the first two rounds with ease, but they were completely caught by surprise in the third round, when a Desert Eagle eco from EnVyUs proved effective, with Fabien "kioShiMa" Fiey picking up three kills. That turned out to be the deciding moment in the game as the Frenchmen maintained their momentum all the way until sealing a 16-9 victory.
NBK turned in a great display on dust2
Map #2 was de_inferno, where NiP came out the brighter as they won the pistol round and the first anti-eco round. But the Swedes were then stunned by an ecoing EnVyUs side in the following round as the Frenchmen brilliantly held the A bombsite down in a 3on3 situation.
EnVyUs remained in the driving seat for several more rounds as they brought the scoreline to 6-2, but their streak came to an end in the 9th round, when they were caught off-guard by a Tec9 B rush from NiP. Still, one more round was all that Xizt's men accomplished until the end of the half as the French team enjoyed an 11-4 lead before switching to the Terrorist side of the map.
In the second half, EnVyUs kicked things off with a no-nonsense B push that NiP could do nothing against, and the Frenchmen controlled the pace of the game in the following rounds to seal an impressive 16-4 triumph that put them just one map away from victory.
shox was unstoppable on de_inferno
The final map of this tie was de_cache, where NiP struggled to make their mark on the game for most of the first half as EnVyUs looked on point most of the time. As the game wore on, the Swedes finally managed to find their feet, but a 7-8 deficit meant that they had a mountain to climb to turn this game around.
But NiP's plans were thrown were quickly thrown into chaos as EnVyUs controlled the tempo of the game in the second half, conceding just two rounds before sealing a 16-9 victory and a 3-0 overall success.
